Welcome to Frootea, a text-message-based video game that immerses you in the lives of LGBTQ+ Southeast Asians! In this unique adventure entirely developed by one person under the name tum tum studios, you play a crucial role in a group chat with three vibrant individuals: Sofia (she/her), a proud Filipino; Egg (they/them), a Vietnamese explorer of gender identity; and Seven (any pronouns), a Chinese-Indonesian non-binary individual.
Frootea values your individuality and the character you inhabit. You can tailor your character's name, pronouns, gender identity, and sexuality to align with your own experiences and identity. Your journey through this immersive experience mirrors the beauty and complexity of human relationships, all while celebrating the diverse LGBTQ+ identities within the Southeast Asian community. As you interact with these fascinating characters and contribute to their conversations, you explore their lives, make choices that shape your relationships, influence the group dynamics, and even alter the storyline.
Frootea is more than a game; it's a platform for empathy, understanding, and connection. Through your interactions, you'll delve into the complexities of each character's identity and the challenges they face as LGBTQ+ individuals in Southeast Asia. Controls
'Enter' or 'Space': Advances dialogue. Note that this only works when your pointer is hovering over the bottom tab with the lemon logo.
'Left click': Left clicking on the bottom tab with the lemon logo also advances the dialogue.
'Escape' or 'Right click': Accesses the 'Save' screen, which allows players to go to the main menu.
'Ctrl': Skips dialogue when held down.
'Tab': Toggles dialogue skipping.
'S': Takes a screenshot.

I loved this game, it was adorable, well written, the art was amazing!! The story line was beautiful and the characters were complex. I cried by the end, and I've now replayed it several times!! Incredible work!!

I'm not southeast asian, I'm east asian (Chinese to be more specific) and this game still plucked on every single one of my heartstrings. This is a plot that hits close to home personally for me (literally lmao) and really accurately helps show the fear and just the unfairness our community faces- just for being who we are and feeling things.
This game made me bawl like a child and the last bit broke me in the best way possible. Thank you for creating such a beautiful experience with such a powerful message, and Happy Pride, because everyone should be so proud of themselves no matter if it's June or fucking December of something <3

I'm not the exact intended audience (im not southeast asian, im west asian) but this game made me cry. i met people like all these characters. it hurt so bad at some parts but also gave me hope. the queering the maps nearly made me bawl :' ))
